Schuylkill County, PA (Sept. 22, 2026) – Near mile marker 112.8 on Interstate 81 North, a 17-year-old Ashland girl was flown to a hospital after her car rolled over. Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville confirmed the crash.
Troopers said the crash happened at about 1:27 p.m. on Sept. 22. The teen was driving a 2016 Subaru Legacy in the right lane when the car struck the end of a guardrail on the highway’s east side.
The impact sent the Subaru airborne, and it rolled onto its roof, according to police. The car continued north along the shoulder, struck another guide rail section, then went down an embankment and hit a tree.
Firefighters from Donaldson Fire Company and Hegins Valley Fire Company used mechanical equipment to extricate her from the wreck. Tremont Area Ambulance took her to a landing zone, and she was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Police said she was wearing a seat belt. The public crash report listed the severity of her injuries as unknown.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
A single-vehicle rollover like this one raises real questions about what happened before the car left its lane. Guardrail placement, road striping, and PennDOT maintenance records can all matter, and they don’t stay available forever.
Pennsylvania follows a modified comparative negligence rule. A driver can still recover damages even if she is found partly at fault, as long as she was not more than half responsible (42 Pa.C.S. § 7102). Investigators and attorneys typically look at guardrail design and placement in rollover crashes like this one, without assuming it caused the crash.
Personal injury claims in Pennsylvania generally must be filed within two years of the crash (42 Pa.C.S. § 5524). That deadline is Sept. 22, 2028, for this case. Because she is a minor, a parent or guardian can pursue this claim on her behalf.
