New Milford, Pennsylvania (August 10, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailers shut down both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County, backing up traffic for hours, according to the Harford Volunteer Fire Company.

Emergency crews were called to mile marker 216 on I-81 South around 4 p.m. on the afternoon of August 10, the fire company said. The crash involved tractor-trailers, passenger cars, and other trucks.

Several people involved in the crash sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment, according to the fire company. The extent of those injuries has not been released.

Crews worked the scene for roughly three hours, coordinating to clear the wreckage and reopen the highway to southbound traffic.
