Milford Borough, PA – 75-Year-Old Levittown Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Tractor-Trailer Crash

Milford Borough, PA (July 29, 2026) – A 75-year-old Levittown woman died after a tractor-trailer lost control and struck multiple vehicles in Pike County, Pennsylvania State Police said. Laine Matthews suffered fatal injuries in the crash, which happened around 3:52 p.m. along West Harford Street near Seventh Street in Milford Borough.

Troopers said a blue 2006 Freightliner truck pulling a semi-trailer was heading south on West Harford Street when the driver lost control near the intersection. The rig struck a vehicle in the 300 block before continuing down the road and hitting several other vehicles, state police said.

Multiple people were injured in the crash, though troopers have not said how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries. State police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as a Central Islip, New York, man. No charges had been filed as of late last week.

The crash knocked out power across three municipalities, according to Pike County Light and Power. Investigators with the Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Forensic Services Unit and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Unit responded to the scene, along with the Milford Borough Police Department, the Milford Fire Department, and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
